When one border closes, another opens. And of course, we are not talking about India, Georgia or Vietnam, but about education. Of course, distance learning as a phenomenon existed before 2020, but only a year ago this format of acquiring new knowledge began to gain momentum. It's great when you don't have to go to classes every day, or go to another city to master the desired specialty, or spend time after work on the road to the educational center (no one has canceled retraining either, especially when it comes to IT). So let's figure out why distance education is so cool - only live communication and no recorded lectures!
Training under the watchful eye of a mentor
Let's start with a problem with an asterisk: you've decided to take up sports and are hesitating between buying a squash or tennis subscription. What to choose? The correct answer is whatever you want — in both cases, with regular attendance, you'll burn calories and get in shape. This doesn't work with IT courses, since you're not training your body, but your brain, and creating new neural connections. You can't create connections by "pounding the wall" (even regularly) — you need the guidance of an experienced mentor from the social media marketing service other side of the court. If you haven't figured it out yet, unlike recorded online courses, distance learning courses are taught by mentors. This means that if you have a question during your training, or more than one, you'll immediately receive feedback from a real person, who you can turn to for help throughout the entire training process. This is especially important for future developers (you won't get far without a review). And if some individuals feel uncomfortable asking questions offline, then doing so privately by writing to a teacher or classmate will not be so problematic.
Eat, pray, love, wear underpants
In general, do what you want and wear what you want, as long as it does not interfere with your educational process. But seriously, attending distance learning courses can create an atmosphere that corresponds to the concept of comfort and learning needs in your understanding.
Inclusiveness
In our opinion, this is one of the biggest advantages of distance learning. Unfortunately, our reality is that people with disabilities often have to face great difficulties in accessing professional development and education. As for IT, this area is also attractive because in addition to distance learning, distance work is also possible in the future (thus solving two problems at once). But inclusiveness (general accessibility) is a much broader concept - thanks to distance learning, residents of rural areas have the same access to knowledge as residents of large cities.
Conscious physical and social distancing
A trend that has gained popularity due to the virus "that must not be named." Of course, humans are social creatures, and we must somehow try to maintain these connections so as not to fall into a state of suspended animation. However, in addition to the social side of the coin, there is also such a thing as professional development. Thanks to distance learning, the granite of science (naturally treated with an antiseptic) can be gnawed away from the maddened crowd, thereby not stopping important processes.
Let's get personal
In the world of psychologists, self-analysis and work-throughs, there is no person left who does not know about introverts and extroverts. If the latter like to work in close physical contact with other people, then the former "oh, how they suffer from this." Feeling uncomfortable in a group of strangers is normal, but in this case, it is worth thinking about distance education to create a comfortable learning environment.
Saving time and money
Studying remotely, you don’t waste time on the road and complete the course (we are talking about IT education) much faster than at university. This is especially a bonus for those who decided to change their shoes and move from one profession to another. And the money aspect is very pleasant – you don’t need to spend money on extra gas or travel passes.
